There are ways to win NHIAA championships, and there's the way that Portsmouth High School just did it.
Portsmouth, the sixth-ranked team in the Division 2 tournament, downed third-ranked Timberlane, 8-7, in the quarterfinals and then bombed No. 2 Winnacunnet, 11-2 in the semifinals in order to set up a championship rematch with top-seeded Derryfield.
In Division 1, Bishop Guertin entered the tournament as the No. 2 seed, but left no doubt that it was the best team after a series of one-sided wins.
