The Champlain Valley Union (Vt.) boys lacrosse team is used to success.
The team has played in the state championship 10 of the past 11 years, and it won all 10 times.
This year was different, though. CVU started the season with only two victories in its first six games, and when the Division 1 playoffs rolled around, it entered as the No. 4 seed, its lowest seed in 10 years.
Coach Brian Loughlin said his team had a lot of grit and composure, and it learned a lot about itself through its early struggles.
