BOURNE, Mass. — When it was time to pick captains for this season, Billerica Memorial (Mass.) High School coach Ryan Nickerson was stumped.
Coming off last year’s trip to the MIAA Division 2 quarterfinals, Billerica had six key seniors returning and eligible for captaincy. That number is typically too many, as most teams opt for two or three captains.
Yet, as Nickerson mulled over his choices, he couldn’t find a good reason to omit any of the candidates.
So he didn’t.
