Paige Fenner was admittedly not in a great place at the start of an important summer.
As other goalies from across the nation charged into the recent showcase season brimming with confidence from their high school campaigns, Fenner had spent her sophomore season at Pinkerton Academy (N.H.) largely backing up senior Sara DiClemente, another talented goalie who is now playing at Division 1 Coastal Carolina.
Inwardly, she struggled. But outwardly, she was determined to be the best teammate she could be.
“She’s everyone’s No. 1 fan,” said Katie Bourque, her coach at Pinkerton and with the New Hampshire Tomahawks club team.
