Commitments from the Class of '27 are still trickling in despite a rather lengthy lull the last two weeks.
However, there were two juniors who pledged their college futures to two different programs this week -- one from Lakes Region power Holderness and the other from Bishop Feehan (Mass.) High School.
Let's start with the latter. Dexter Izzo (North Attleboro, Mass.) is a shifty lefty playmaker who drew a ton of interest this summer playing for Laxachusetts. At Bishop Feehan, he collected nearly 100 points last year as a sophomore, making him one of the region's top scorers.
He can get underneath so well and uses his size, or lack thereof, to his advantage in one-on-one matchups. He's got the speed and IQ to be a transition midfielder and, unlike other score-happy point-getters, knows how to play defense on and off the ball. He's sort of a positionless player, which makes him perfect for UMass Lowell, which needs help all over the field going into the spring and is still building a team to fit head coach Drew Kelleher's vision.
