St. Anselm College is leaving Division 2 for lacrosse and other sports, and will begin a transition to the Division 3 New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference, the school announced today.
Hawks teams will play their final seasons in the Northeast-10 Conference in 2026-27, before joining the NEWMAC for the 2027-28 academic year.
St. Anselm, located away from downtown in Manchester, N.H., says it is expected to achieve full Division 3 membership by 2029–30, pending NCAA approval.
In a statement released Wednesday, St. Anselm president Joseph A. Favazza cited a changed NCAA landscape, one driven partly by Name, Image and Likeness financial opportunities, as a reason for the move, which will allow St. Anselm to “maintain control of its athletic future.”
