The quarterfinals of the NESCAC tournament followed a pattern of unpredictability that has been the standard for the last few seasons. Hamilton pulled off an upset of Wesleyan, and Bates sent Amherst packing with a win.
While the winner of the NESCAC tournament is guaranteed a spot in the NCAA tournament with the automatic qualifier, at least three of these four teams (and one eliminated squad) have made a strong case to be included on their regular-season merits alone.
However, this isn’t just a conference that is won for bragging rights. It’s a tournament that has had a number of puzzling results despite only having two different champions (Tufts and Wesleyan) since COVID.
Every possible permutation of results is in play, making Saturday's semifinals a must-see for New England lacrosse fans. The final will be on Sunday.
