Weston High School finished the 2025 season with a record of 9-10.
The program went through a remarkable turnaround in 2026, however, finishing 19-3, and capping its season with a thrilling, come-from-behind victory over New Fairfield, 11-10, in the CIAC Class M championship game.
Two of the team’s three losses came in previous matchups against New Fairfield but, as the saying goes, it’s very difficult to beat a team three times.
“The key was losing to them twice during the regular season and league championship,” Weston coach Bill Rexford said. “Those losses gave us a clear to-do list and the boys got to work. We focused on limiting their transition goals and staying spread out on offense to take advantage of their early, aggressive slides.”
