The date that ‘28 boys lacrosse recruits across the region have circled on their calendars is almost here.
On Sept. 9, Division 1 college coaches can begin contacting juniors in the class of 2028. The date — formerly Sept. 1 — is pushed back this year after Labor Day and is one of the most pivotal moments in a player’s recruiting journey.
It can also be the most stressful.
Getting a phone call on Sept. 9 is the dream for many of the top prospects in New England and beyond.
But not everyone will be immediately contacted. And if that’s the case, it doesn’t mean your college lacrosse hopes are over. This is also true for girls prospects, who became eligible to commit to Division 1 programs on Sept. 1.
“I don’t view Sept. 9 as a deadline,” said University of Vermont head coach Drew Kelleher. “I view it as a starting point.”
