The day is finally here for the region's top girls lacrosse prospects in the class of 2028.
Sept. 1 marks the date when juniors in high school can commit to Div. 1 college programs, and there are many standouts around New England who will be getting attention from schools over the next few weeks.
Some '28s have already made their college plans. Chloe Sherman (Darien, Conn.), for instance, was the first '28 from New England to commit to a school. She decided on Navy last month, since military academies are allowed to land commitments earlier. Some top players have already committed to play at the next level in other sports, too, including the Princeton-bound Francie Ames (Brookline, Mass.) and Penn State commit Catherine McCool (Boston, Mass.).
For the purpose of this list — 15 players who I think will receive attention from Div. 1 programs starting on Sept. 1 — I didn’t include players who have already made their decision, regardless of the sport.
To be clear, these 15 players are by no means the only ones in New England who will have interest from Div. 1 teams or will ultimately pledge to a program before they graduate. These are just the ones I have on my radar.
