This is one of the most chaotic early seasons of recruiting in recent memory. However, that’s not necessarily a negative thing, even though it sounds like it.
While clear tiers of schools have always been present in Division 1 lacrosse, they have often been sorted into two general camps: ultra-academic and ultra-athletic.
In the ultra-athletic category, you have the ACC and the Big Ten. In the ultra-academic, you have the Ivy League and the Patriot League.
In early recruiting parlance, these are the four power conferences. Everyone knows it and everyone accepts it.
