FOXBORO, Mass. -- A slow start to the first NCAA Division 1 semifinal between Cornell and Penn State ended up turning into a solid victory for the Big Red at Gillette Stadium on Saturday.
Even without star CJ Kirst producing a point, Cornell took an 11-9 win that vaulted it into Monday's national championship game.
A six-goal outburst in the third quarter really sealed the victory for top-seeded Cornell, which used a peculiar alchemy to generate its goals and advance to its second NCAA final in the last four seasons.
