On the eve of the MIAA Division 2 championship game, Walpole High School coach Mike Tosone talked about his players’ motivation.
A year after reaching the D-2 final and falling to Notre Dame Academy, Walpole arrived at another D-2 title game, and turned that motivation – plus heavy doses of speed, talent and athleticism – into the program’s first state championship.
“For them, from last year and the program itself being blessed with a series of deep runs, and that we’ve never won the whole ball of wax … I think it’s good pressure,” Tosone said. “The girls want to write a new chapter to this.”
On Friday evening at Babson College, the Timberwolves wrote one.
