Every Independent School League season tells a story and, for Milton Academy, the 2025 season it experienced was rife with highs and lows.
The challenges surfaced before a game was played, as Milton lost a key face-off specialist, George Wilmerding, to an ACL injury sustained during the wrestling season.
In a league as competitive as the ISL, losing a dominant face-off presence can quickly swing momentum, possession and outcomes. At times, that shortcoming led to lopsided losses, but in others, the Mustangs showed grit, adjusting on the fly and competing until the final whistle.
Even with this hole in the roster, Milton finished 9-9 overall, a record punctuated by more than a few nailbiters, and earned the No. 7 seed in the ISL championship tournament. It fell to No. 2 St. Sebastian's, 16-6, in the quarterfinals.
