Portsmouth Abbey came into the 2025 season hungry for competition, and that’s exactly what it got.
Last year marked the Ravens’ inaugural season in the New England School Lacrosse League after a dominating run in the Eastern Independent League. This included nine championship wins, an era of lacrosse that, while undeniably successful, had run its course.
“We weren’t provided enough competitive experience in the EIL,” explained coach Al Brown, who’s been at the helm of Portsmouth Abbey’s lacrosse team since 2000.
“It just wasn’t a good fit for the weaker teams or for us,” he expanded, stating that the move to the NESLL has been "a win-win for everyone."
