In 2025, Lincoln-Sudbury battled New York powerhouse West Genesee to a one-goal loss at the University of Albany.
There were lead changes, big goals and tense moments. But something rather unfamiliar made the matchup that much more exciting.
The game had a shot clock.
“It was a great game,” Vona said. “And even though we lost, it’s probably one of my favorite games of coaching because it was our first game against a shot clock, and it was just awesome.”
This week, the National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS) announced that all states can adopt a 70-second shot clock for high school boys lacrosse in 2027.
That begs the ultimate question: What will the MIAA do?
