Loomis Chaffee head coach Bill Ball sat in his office, discussing his trio of junior defenders who had recently made their college commitments official.
As he brought up Hayes Griffin, Ball looked out the window and saw the Notre Dame commit walking to the field. It wasn’t a school day, but Griffin was getting in extra work on his own. Ball praised him for having a “special” work ethic.
“He’s (going to be) competing against 10 other polls that are just like him,” Ball said. “In my experience, it seems to be the kids who work the hardest and can continue working at that level in college who are the ones who end up being the most successful ones.”
In addition to Hayes, the Pelicans boast juniors Will Runerton (Hayes’ roommate) and Patrick Bishai, who will continue to be teammates at Penn.
