With the preliminary rounds finished for the NCAA Division 2 tournament, attention now turns to the opening round of play.
It's been an odd year in D-2, especially in the north. Adelphi has run wild through almost everyone with an undefeated record and received the No. 1 seed as a result. However, despite being close to New England, the team doesn't have one impactful player from our region on its roster.
In fact, most teams in the tournament are bereft of a player north of 30 points, a starting defenseman, a top face-off man or a goalie that hails from any state in our region.
Still, that doesn't hold true for all of the teams in this year's bracket. Here are five players -- listed with hometown, class year, position and school -- set to make impacts in the first and, hopefully, second rounds of the NCAA tournament.
