The game tied, her college career entering its final six minutes, Hope Shue (Dover, Mass.) needed to do what she does best.
The Middlebury star senior, already with program and NCAA records in her backpack, scored twice to break a deadlock with Tufts in the NCAA Division 3 championship game on Sunday, and the Panthers held on, 10-9, to win their fourth straight title and cap a wild weekend in Salem, Va.
After requiring overtime to outlast another NESCAC rival – Colby – in the semifinals on Friday, the Panthers needed to dig out of an early 4-0 hole against Tufts.
They did.
