May was an exciting month for Belmont Hill. The Hillers (15-3) finished the season with a four-game win streak, culminating in a thrilling, 8-7 overtime victory over Tabor and the team’s second consecutive Independent School League championship.
The margin of victory was thin, however, and the ISL is a competitive conference to play in. Just looking at the team’s opponent in the championship game, Tabor relied on contributions from a number of underclassmen who are a year older; now that they -- and others -- have a taste of playing for a championship, they are hungry to get back and knock Belmont Hill off the top of the mountain.
On the flip side, the Hillers have a lot of holes to fill, making this fall even more important.
“We graduated a large and talented senior class,” head coach Tim Sullivan said. “(We will) hit the first day of practice with 15 returners and 13 newcomers from our subvarsity ranks.”
