Although it might seem foolish to pick sleepers in the prep ranks, or even use the word in this context, the sports colloquialism is here to stay.
That being said, the definition of what a sleeper team may come to mean is also markedly different. Is it a team that surpasses expectations? A team that rides a superstar into a higher echelon? Or is it quite literally a sleeping giant?
We’re getting all three versions of those descriptors today as we delve a little deeper into the prep landscape. None of these teams below finished last season in our regional Top 10 (OK, one barely got in, tying for 10th).
