Belmont Hill got hat tricks from Lindan Verville and Dylan Casillo, and outlasted a dogged Rivers team, 15-12, in the semifinals of the Independent School League championship tournament on Saturday in Belmont, Mass.
The win moves defending champion and top-seeded Belmont Hill (14-3) into its second consecutive title game. It will host No. 6 Tabor in the final on Sunday.
Rivers, playing in the championship tournament semifinals for the first time, owned a one-goal lead deep into the third quarter but was kept off the board for more than a full quarter after that goal, as the defense and goalie Will Butler locked down.
Still, the fifth-seeded Red Wings finished 12-4 overall during what was a breakthrough season under third-year coach Matt Hudson.
