Another wild week in Connecticut high school lacrosse. The Wilton downward spiral continued, as it dropped a game to Fairfield Ludlowe in OT and then lost at Yorktown (N.Y.) to extend its losing streak to six.
Staples went to prep power Brunswick and nearly pulled off the upset, overcoming a massive face-off deficit in the process. A great look at goal in the closing seconds that would have forced OT went wide, but Staples put some excellent play on tape.
New Canaan won the latest chapter in its rivalry with Darien in fine fashion. The Rams held Darien to the lowest goal total in a game between the two teams since 2013, winning 8-4 after a five-goal first quarter explosion.
