In high school lacrosse, Catholic and private schools competing for the same championships as public schools has always been an awkward situation.
That's especially true in the MIAA, where St. John's Prep has won the last five Division 1 titles. In four of those seasons, SJP's opponent in the championship game was BC High.
It's a situation not limited to the MIAA. In New Hampshire, Bishop Guertin has won the Division 1 title five years in a row. La Salle Academy has won Rhode Island's largest division 13 straight times.
