Each year, the USA Lacrosse Rules Committee and the National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS) meet to determine potential changes or points of emphasis prior to the start of the high school season.
While the high school season is still more than a month away, those changes have been announced and include multiple points of emphasis for referees, coaches and players to consider.
All told, 11 changes were made, though most major in the minor, but all have an eye towards more safety for everyone on the lacrosse field.
Let’s go through some of the more impactful changes, with some context and explanation on why and how those rules were altered, using my perspective as a high school lacrosse coach.
