Alex Bunick spent the past two seasons as the defensive coordinator for Belmont Hill, a part of two Independent School League championship teams.
He’s also an ISL alum who played lacrosse at Rivers. Previously, when he had visited St. Mark’s, he had shown up at the fields, played or coached, and then left.
As a candidate for the vacant head coaching position this past offseason, however, he got to experience visiting the school in a new way, and he came away impressed with the beauty of the campus, the academic standard and the supportive atmosphere.
“What really struck me was how everyone here cares about the student-athlete, the student-athlete experience, and how much the students, teachers and staff all care for each other,” he said. “It’s a place where players and students are really pushed to be the best on the field and in the classroom.”
