As last fall morphed into last winter, and her college commitment remained unmade, Tara Battaglino wasn’t sweating it.
The Wellesley (Mass.) High School standout midfielder, regarded as one of the top ‘26 recruits in the region, had plenty to keep her busy while her friends and peers were making their college choices.
In the fall she threw herself into her training. In the winter, she competed in indoor track for the first time, and ended up qualifying for the state meet in three events – the 300, the long jump and the 4x200 relay.
“I wouldn’t say it weighed on me,” she said. “I was so happy every time I saw one of my friends commit.”
