AMHERST, Mass. — The Midsummer Classic was a little closer to the start of the summer recruiting season than the end. However, it occupied the important post-July 4 space in the calendar.
While the tournament is known for its youth setup, there were a number of clubs fielding strong sides in the ‘26 and ‘27 divisions this year. Teams from 2 Way, Kings, CT Wolves, Maine Mussels, CT Sharks, 4 Leaf, CT Oilers and the R.I. Bulldogs were all present. However, I do think the talent was a little more spread out in the '27 division.
The balance of opponents was quite strong, as was the representation of college coaches at the event.
The Midsummer Classic posts will be split up by age group and position. Today’s post highlights the standout uitlity midfielders from the Class of ’27, players listed with school and club.
