ESSEX, Vt. – The middle of July is a great time to have a tournament in Vermont. It’s one of the, if not the, final showcase tournaments on the slate for most of the teams in attendance.
That meant it had a bit of a do-or-die vibe to it — especially this year as the field was comprised of multiple teams from across the far reaches of New England.
The Vermont Lacrosse Classic has always featured club teams from the different corners of New England. Multiple teams from Maine, like Western Maine Elite and the Maine Mussels, as well as Vermont’s own 802 Lacrosse Club, were present.
Of course, clubs from Massachusetts were also well represented, as N.E. Oaks, HGR and Penguins Select were also there. Throw in a few Adirondack- and/or Albany-based New York teams, and you have a very different mix of players than any other event on the calendar.
