There are 15 Division 1 men’s lacrosse teams in the New England area. However, the allure of greener grass, or at least grass that is still green and not covered in snow, means that a vast number of local players play their college ball elsewhere.
At least, for a little while.
The pull of playing time always wins out. Because of the transfer portal, careers are being fractured into a free agency the likes of which we have never seen before. Even after the extra-eligibility years from COVID have run out, the exodus of players to different programs has not slowed down.
Here are a few players with local ties who will be playing closer to home in D-1 this season.
